Young midfielder who was in the year below me at school (Lawnswood
in Leeds) - not that I ever saw him play of course. He came into the
Leeds side in the depths of the Division 2 slump and never really
established himself, and he was sold to Chesterfield around deadline
day in 1988.
Andy Jones says: I had the pleasure of being a good friend of Nigel
at Lawnswood School. We were always having a laugh and distracting
everyone! I think Nigel's thoughts throughout school were just on
football and playing at Leeds Utd. I can remember him scoring a great
goal for school one time. He hit the ball that hard from 18 yards it
nearly broke the net! We always used to mix with the likes of Errol
Johnson, Tony Butt, Alan McKenna. Errol and Tony ended up playing
professional rugby league. We all got on together at school and we all
loved playing sport. I think this is why we didn't do too well in the
class. From leaving school, i have only seen Nigel once. It was a few
years ago now (approx. 8yrs) and i saw him all suited up in the Myrtle
Pub in Meanwood. He was getting married. I spoke to him briefly and
wished him all the best. So, if you ever see 'Mr McCredie's Pet' (the
sports teacher-who i think is still at Lawnswood)give Nigel my
regards.....Andy Jones (Lawnswood High School 1980-1984).
Dave Smith says: I am Nigel's boss at Royal Mail in Leeds 6, he is
currently a Postman delivering the nations mail in the woodhouse area
of the city.
