Jabba's Comments |
A South African who came over on tour in the mid-1920s and stayed
to become one of Liverpool's greatest ever players with an incredible
haul of goals - 233 in his 258 league games. He had a brief spell with
Aston Villa, but age hadn't caught up with him when he signed for
Leeds in 1937 - his record of 5 goals in a game remains unequalled by
any of the great Leeds strikers before or since.
He was a real all-round sportsman, turning out as a fast bowler in
county cricket, and when he retired from the playing side of the game
he had a spell in management with Port Vale before his untimely death
at the age of 47 in Stoke.

who try to add their links to this page by attempting to get round the client-side

garbage straight into the bit bucket.
