Popular goal-scoring inside forward who gave Leeds five good years
of service in the mid-1920s. He started his career with West London
Old Boys, moving on to Ton Pentre before joining the senior ranks at
Clapton Orient. Scored a hat-trick on his home debut for Leeds, and
was to score another one on Christmas Day 1924. He returned to Clapton
Orient on leaving Leeds, but at the age of 30 he was heading towards
retirement although he did keep playing League football for a further
4 years after leaving Leeds and playing on with Bath City at the age of
35 after leaving Swindon.
Roger Whipp says: i! Just surfed into your site after doing a
search on my surname Whipp. My dad always told me that my Great Uncle
Percy was a good footballer who had played for the Orient and other
clubs. Although my dad is no longer alive I shall make some enquires &
search for any photos. I believe he also played a few games for
Arsenal.
