One of two "B Williamson"s on Leeds' books in the mid-1960s - and
both were keepers. Apart from his early career at Gateshead and Crewe,
Brian Williamson operated as a reserve keeper, and played very few
first-team games.
Peter Young says: i am brians son inlaw brian now lives in erina
new south wales australia.from what i have been told the reason brian
played very few first team games was because of one g.sprake, and on
one occassion after brian had been playing in the first team when
sprake was injured and returned to the top team the fans booed for the
return of brian.if you would like more info on brian you can contact
me and i will pass it on.
Karen Williamson says: Hello! I am Karen Williamson Brian's eldest
daughter. My dad's saddest time was the year he had to give soccer
away due to an injury. Soccer was my dad's life as well his family,
he loves to train the young ones and watch them grow into good players
but had to give that up also due to injury. I am very proud of my dad.
He has three grandchildren Jamie 10, Ashley 5 and Courtney 1 year
old.
Ian says: Brian Williamson was one of the most acrobatic of
keepers. I remember a famous photograph of him 'flying through' the
air with both his hands on the ball. One of his claims to fame is
that he was the Crewe keeper when they went down 13-2 to Spurs in the
FA Cup. And that was in a replay. They drew in the first match at
Crewe!
Jessica says: Hello everyone im Brian and Anne Williamsons Niece. I
live in Woodlesford Leeds in the uk. I havent seen them in ages but
have heard that Uncle Brian played for Leeds. Now when people ask me
what my claim to fame is its that my uncle used to play for leeds
united. All my love to you all in Australia from Jessica
