Rob Bowman was another one of the first wave of players to come
through Wilko's Youth setup at Leeds, but like many of the others
he didn't continue his success at the top level. He played a handful
of games in the Premier League - and even got a taste of European
football in the 0-3 defeat at PSV in 1995.
With no progress possible at Leeds, he moved on to Rotherham and
then to Carlisle before being released at the end of the 1999-2000
season and moving on to play for Bohemians in Ireland.
Mervyn Day says: Rob was the finest full-back in Carlisle's team -
shame that Michael Knighton thought he knew better.
Maurice Perry says: Went to school with Rob "Yogger" Bowman, though
I was a couple of years older. Always thought he'd 'make it' and
quite saddened that he hasn't, as he was clearly a class above
anything i'd seen when i was younger, especially when we were kicking
around in the old Gilesgate V's Kelloe/Q Hill matches, in the scool
yard.
Patrick O'Kane says: i'm positive i did ,did he make his debut
against man utd in cantona's return to elland rd please let me no it's
been bugging me for years. Jabba says: his first start was against Man
U in February 1993, but his debut was againsy Wimbledon as a sub two
days prior to that game.
Keith Holmes says: Saw him play in the 0-0 draw V Man U - hew
handled Giggs very well. Surprised he didn't make it
